  • This Week on WomanTalk Live – 01/07/12 – “Women and Leadership – Inspiring Women to Lead” with Louise Phipps Senft

    Thursday, January 5, 2012

    Louise Phipps Senft

What do you think of when you hear or see the word “leadership”?    And, what do you think when you hear and see the combination of “women and leadership”?  Is it any different when “women” is added?

You may possibly see someone standing up at a podium giving a speech.  Or, a powerful CEO of a major corporation.  Or, someone running a meeting in the office.  Or, someone chairing a successful  event.   Or, someone running for an elective office.  Or, someone dealing with high-level negotiations between countries.  Or, someone running a successful home and managing all of the chores and events that take place on a daily basis.  All of these situations and many more, require leadership skills.  And, women do all of these things.

My guest this week, Louise Phipps Senft, Esq., is the CEO and founder of Baltimore Mediation, the first mediation firm in the state of Maryland.  For 19 years, Baltimore Mediation have been in the day-to-day business of mediating interpersonal and multi-party disputes and facilitating divergent group dialogue, and providing the highest quality training and mentoring in conflict transformation and mediation.

Along the way, Louise, who has been voted one of “Maryland’s Top 100 Women” for 2004, 2007 and 2009 by The Daily Record, and “Baltimore’s Best Mediator” by Baltimore Magazine, and is a former faculty member at the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation Insight Initiative, 2007, has learned a thing or two about women and leadership.

This week, we plan to discuss some of the key opportunities for women in leadership, what makes a good leader today and what some of the barriers women as leaders face.

In addition, we’ll discuss centering and self-awareness for leaders and using the Enneagram as a self-discovery tool.

Join us on Saturday evening as Louise talks with us about understanding the roles women play and strategies for leadership success.

Saturday, January 7th, from 6:07-7:00 pm ET on Talkradio 680 WCBM Baltimore or “Listen Live” online

And, be sure to check out last week’s show when Tameron Keyes, author of No Backing Down, joined me to talk about her 14-year personal experience with sexual discrimination and her ultimate triumph in her groundbreaking case against one of the largest financial firms on Wall Street.

If you missed my conversation with Tameron or you want to share it with a friend, listen here.
