  • On My Mind: The Gift of Love

    Thursday, May 31, 2012

Love happens all of the time.  Every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every week, every month, every year, and on and on and on.  We don’t have to wait for Valentine’s Day to roll around to make love happen or to celebrate love or even a major LIKE.

We can experience love – both giving it and receiving it – all of the time.

And, I’m not just talking about that hot, steamy, passionate stuff, either.  I’m talking about the love that fills your heart until you think it’s going to burst.  Or, the type of love that just fills your body, mind and spirit with a sense of peace.

All sorts of things bring love out…watching your child sleep, knowing that it’s ok with your spouse if you wear thermal underwear and socks to bed, watching your pet play, having that wonderful friend who always seems to know just what you need, seeing the bright red-orange of a rising or setting sun.  You get the idea.

One way you can experience love all of the time?  Cherish your relationships with people.  Let others know how much they mean to you.  Let others know when they do something that you really notice and appreciate.  Don’t just take it for granted that they know how you feel, or that what you think won’t make that much of a difference to them.  Everyone loves to know that something they did was appreciated.

Researchers at the University of Houston have studied people relationships, and after all of the research was done, what they realized was that people don’t win “at” relationships…people win by having relationships.

Make the most of yours every day.
