One of my favorite times of the year – when I finally get to meet and visit with the current year’s winner of the WomanTalk Live Girls Gone Great Scholarship Essay Contest. And, the fifth Girl Gone Great adds to the tradition of incredible young women who are making a difference now and have a big vision for the future. A senior at Oakland Mills High School in Columbia, MD, Rupini Shukla has given back more in her few short years than many even dream about. And, she has big vision for the future with plans for a career in medical research in the field of neurological science. Rupini says, “Making a difference is important to me because it is what our society needs today. I strongly believe that young women have the power, drive, and devotion to achieve anything they set their minds to; there are numerous examples of this in history. If the focus of this drive happens to be community service, it could create wonders for the world! I am certain that I have both the firm potential and the steadfast dedication to make a mark in history through my vision for the future.” And, we have no doubt that she’ll do exactly that. Tune in and be inspired.
