On December 14, 2011, the Centers for Disease Control came out with a national survey which reported that nearly 1 in 5 women has been raped at some time in her life.

Think of the 5 women in your life that you love the most and imagine that even one of them could be the victim of rape.

As a sexual assault survivor and as a Board member of The Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) – I know they need your help as they continue to support sexual assault survivors in Maryland.

Please give $5 to our 1 in 5 campaign. Donate in honor of the 5 women in your life that you love the most.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Green Dot Strategy
Ending violence…one green dot at a time.
The Green Dot strategy is a comprehensive approach to violence prevention that capitalizes on the power of peer and cultural influence across all levels of the socio-ecological model. Informed by social change theory, the model targets all community members as potential bystanders, and seeks to engage them, through awareness, education, and skills-practice, in proactive behaviors that establish intolerance of violence as the norm, as well as reactive interventions in high-risk situations – resulting in the ultimate reduction of violence.  No one has to do everything…Everyone has to do something.

Heal My Voice
Empower women and girls to heal grief, loss, and trauma, and reclaim their inner authority.
Heal my Voice develops collaborative projects with women in organizations and communities that encourage leadership, community building and the reclaiming of each woman’s voice. In a nine-month process, women support each other in writing a story to heal something in their lives. After writing the story, several months are focused on speaking about the story and the next steps of leadership. It is time for women to heal their voices individually and collectively. We are moving past reading the words about giving other people permission to shine their lights. We are Living it in here…. And the more we live it in the Heal My Voice projects, as we write our stories, heal our voices, shine our lights, celebrate each other, process our “less than” feelings and allow ourselves to be loved and appreciated for our uniqueness, we begin to LIVE this in the world. We are carving new pathways and actually experiencing the quote that Marianne Williamson wrote almost twenty years ago. “We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.”

Visit the website to find out how you can participate in a project, and/or sponsor and support the efforts of Heal My Voice.
