This Week on WomanTalk Live: “Resilience – The Power of the Human Spirit” with Mother and Daughter, Carol Downing and Erika Brannock
Thursday, October 10, 2013
Erika Brannock and Carol DowningFor just about everyone, adversity will be a part of life. At some point or at many times during our lives, we may wonder how we’ll keep going and how we will cope. The world as we know it has turned upside down. It could be a relationship that has fallen apart, a job loss, the death of a loved one, an illness, or a catastrophic event that’s totally out of our control. How do we go forward?
My guests this week know something about coping with the unexpected, dealing with the barrage of feelings that can overwhelm, and choosing to embrace life. Joining me in the studio will be Erika Brannock, the 29 year-old pre-school teacher from Towson, MD, who was seriously injured in the Boston Marathon bombings and her mother, Carol Downing, who was in Boston to run her first marathon there and who was cheered on by Erika and her other daughter, Nicole, and her son-in-law, who were also injured that day.
What started out as a beautiful, joyful day turned into everyone’s worst nightmare and touched hearts all over the world. Be sure to join us this week when these two amazing women talk about the power of the human spirit and what keeps them going.
Saturday, October 12th, from 6:07-7:00 pm ET on Talkradio 680 WCBM Baltimore or “Listen Live” online.

Joining me this week in the Conscious Conversations Café are three women who are “being there” for young people in the community and making a big difference:

This Week on WomanTalk Live: “Where Has All the Romance Gone? (And How to Find It)” with Lori and Bob Hollander
Thursday, September 19, 2013“Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source.” – Anais Nin
My guests this week, Lori and Bob Hollander of Relationships Work, know a thing or two about love and relationships and the good, the bad and the ugly that can show up in them. One thing they know for sure, after working with couples for over twenty years, is that there is a romantic crisis going on with most couples today.
They see that most people believe in the “Fantasy of Romance” – that everything will stay fabulous, hot, sexy and attentive forever. So, when the normal life cycle of a relationship or marriage takes place and when the little ones come along… everything changes.
What to do? Is it a hopeless cause? Not necessarily. But, each partner has to put some effort in the equation and spice things up again.
Tune in this week if you and your partner have fallen into the routine of ho-hum boredom and you’d like to do something about it. In fact, the “doing something about it” might be the most fun you two have had in a while.
Saturday, September 21st, from 6:07-7:00 pm ET on Talkradio 680 WCBM Baltimore or “Listen Live” online.

This Week on WomanTalk Live: “Cleaning Up the HeadTrash” with Tish Squillaro
Thursday, September 12, 2013Why do leaders get stuck and sometimes find themselves pushing hard but not gaining traction? Frequently it’s because they’re working against themselves, defeating their best efforts with their own thoughts and emotions.
Everybody feels afraid, insecure, guilty, not good enough from time to time. That’s normal. But when problematical thoughts and feelings become patterns in your business and consistently affect your decision-making and leadership behaviors, they’re HeadTrash that requires cleanup on your part.
My guest this week, Tish Squillaro, the CEO and Managing Partner of Candor Consulting and the co-author of HeadTrash: Cleaning out the Junk that Stands between You and Success, has spent more than 18 years assisting CEOS and senior leaders of many of America’s top corporations to develop their leadership skills. Through her extensive experience of training and coaching leaders, she and her co-author, Timothy I. Thomas, have identified the seven emotions that muddy the thinking of top executives to the point that they lose their ability to lead effectively.
Tune into our conversation to find out how to understand and control the unproductive emotions and fears that undermine effectiveness in the workplace and ultimately, your whole life – no matter where your leadership skills are being used.
Saturday, September 14th, from 6:07-7:00 pm ET on Talkradio 680 WCBM Baltimore or “Listen Live” online.
