On My Mind: Believing in Love
Thursday, July 26, 2012“Your entire human experience is predicated on your viewpoint. Your viewpoint is predicated on your inner belief system and that is predicated on how much you believe in fear and how much you believe in love.” - Pat Rodegast, Emmanuel’s Book II: The Choice for Love
I believe in love…I do. In fact, I love that Kenny Loggins’ song and every once in awhile, it takes over my brain completely.
As I was reading the New York Times this morning while I was having my tea on the patio with the hummingbirds… I almost wished I hadn’t. The news is not exactly the way to get your morning started…the Aurora shootings, the Penn State debacle, the economy, the events in Syria, Mexican drug gangs – and, that’s only the front page. Lots of fear, lots of anxiety showing up and that gets in the way of living.
And, then…”I believe in love” popped into my mind. In spite of the fear or anxiety that appears, there is one thing I know for sure and I feel it in my bones. Our life here is not about being born, being miserable, struggling, and then, dying. It’s about living.
What I also know for sure is that to really live, we must open our hearts and we must love. Open our hearts to ourselves and to others. For, when we really get in touch with what’s important, we know that what everybody wants is to be loved. To be love and to allow love – that’s how we let go of fear.
So, there…open your heart, let someone you love know you love them. Even that person you don’t love so much? Open your heart to them. They need it most of all.
