This Week on WomanTalk Live: “Bitten by the Entrepreneurial Bug – How Women and Girls Are Following Their Passion” with Cheryl Wood, Gabrielle Jordan Williams and Jayana Wood
Thursday, July 18, 2013

Cheryl Wood Gabrielle J. Williams Jayana WoodWhen I became involved with the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland several years ago, I discovered that 80% of female entrepreneurs were once Girl Scouts. In fact, each year when the GSCM hosts the Distinguished Women’s Award Event, many of the local business women who are recognized recall with fond memories their days of scouting AND, often their first entrepreneurial exposure was, you guessed it… selling cookies. Famous entrepreneurs you know like Martha Stewart, Anita Roddick of The Body Shop, and Pam Fields of Mrs. Fields Cookies, were all Girl Scouts and perhaps got bitten by the entrepreneurial bug via their cookie selling experience and their dreams as they matured.
Now, on a global basis, women of all ages and that includes girls and young women, are finding their passion for all sorts of things – social change, fashion, motivational speaking, writing, filmmaking, technology and much, much more – and are creating and launching businesses so that they can live their dream.
Joining me this week are three amazing entrepreneurs who are not letting time pass them by. They have all discovered a spark of passion and are now sharing it with others through the projects and ventures they create:
Cheryl Wood is an award-winning entrepreneur, international keynote speaker, author and business coach who equips new and emerging entrepreneurs with the tools to shift from frustration and uncertainty to clarifying, articulating and monetizing their message to build profitable businesses.
Gabrielle Jordan Williams is a teenage entrepreneur, jewelry designer, author, motivational speaker and philanthropist. She launched her jewelry business, Jewelz of Jordan, at the age of 9. At the age of 11, Gabrielle published and received national recognition for her #1 Amazon Bestselling book, The Making of a Young Entrepreneur: A Kids Guide to Developing the Mind-Set for Success.
Jayana Wood is a 9 year-old aspiring entrepreneur who has combined her love of reading and art into her first children’s book, in a series of books, designed to inspire children to consider the possibilities for what they can do and become as they grow up. Jayana is a fourth grader at a French Immersion school where she is learning to speak and write French.
Tune in this week when these three amazing entrepreneurs share why they do what they do and what keeps them moving forward.
